Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.
Fast, Reliable Dryer Vent Cleaning Across North Hollywood
Dryer vent cleaning in North Hollywood typically runs between $149 and $289 for a standard single-family home, and most jobs are completed in under two hours. The catch in this area is that many older homes don’t have a standard vent run at all. If you live in a 1920s to 1950s bungalow or Spanish Colonial in 91601, 91605, or 91606, your dryer may be venting into an original clay flue tile chimney that was never designed for appliance exhaust. That changes the job entirely, and it’s exactly the situation our team at Ontario Chimney handles most weeks. Call (833) 467-7685 for a free estimate, and we’ll tell you honestly whether you need a simple cleaning or something more.
Key takeaways:
- Dryer vent cleaning in North Hollywood runs $149 to $289 for most homes, with camera inspection included.
- Many 91601 and 91602 homes route dryer exhaust into original clay flue tile chimneys, not dedicated metal ducts.
- We never recommend a reline or rebuild without showing you camera evidence you can see for yourself.
- Al Vickers leads a crew that handles dryer vents, chimney sweeping, and structural repair under one roof.
Why Ontario Chimney Is North Hollywood’s Preferred Dryer Vent Cleaning Company
We’ve spent years working the San Fernando Valley’s older housing stock, and North Hollywood keeps us busier than most. The reason is simple: this is a chimney market built on 1920s to 1950s Spanish Colonial and bungalow homes where fireplaces were original heating, not decoration. People here aren’t calling about modern insert servicing. They’re calling about 70 to 100 year old brick fireboxes, cracked mortar, original clay flue tile, and dryer vents that share space with chimney flues in ways that make a standard cleaning complicated.
Al Vickers started Ontario Chimney because he kept seeing the same problem: homeowners being told they needed thousands of dollars in liner or masonry work with no way to verify it. So our approach is built around evidence. We run a camera, we show you what we saw, and we give you options. That’s how we’ve earned a strong reputation across North Hollywood, from the NoHo Arts District up through Valley Glen and over toward Burbank. We’re not the cheapest crew in the Valley, and we don’t try to be. We use professional-grade materials, not hardware-store substitutes, and we stand behind the work.

Our Dryer Vent Cleaning Services in North Hollywood
Dryer Vent Cleaning with Camera Inspection
Every dryer vent cleaning we do in North Hollywood includes a camera inspection as standard. That’s not an upsell. It’s the only way to actually see what’s inside a 70 year old flue that may have separated tile joints, hidden lint pockets, or a vent that terminates somewhere it shouldn’t. We clean the full run, document what we find, and send you photos. If the vent is clean, you’ll see that too. Nothing gets recommended without evidence you can look at.
Chimney Flue Cleaning When the Dryer Vent Shares the Flue
This is the North Hollywood specialty. In many bungalows in 91601 and 91602, the dryer vent was routed into or alongside the original chimney flue. That means lint isn’t just accumulating in a 4-inch metal duct. It’s building up inside a clay flue tile that was never designed for forced-air exhaust. Our Dryer Vent Cleaning team handles this by cleaning the entire flue run, not just the accessible duct, and we check for the tile joint separation and hairline cracks that are common in post-Northridge homes. Since we also sweep chimneys, we’re equipped to handle both jobs in one visit.
Level 2 Inspection for Dryer Vent and Chimney Integration
When a dryer vent connects to or terminates inside a chimney, a basic visual check isn’t enough. We use Level 2 camera inspection to evaluate the condition of the flue from top to bottom, looking for separated tiles, mortar spalling, and lint that has escaped into wall cavities through seismic cracks. This matters in North Hollywood specifically because the 1994 Northridge earthquake left hairline damage in thousands of Valley chimneys that a standard sweep would miss. We’ll tell you what we found, show you the evidence, and give you options.
Dryer Vent Rerouting and Exterior Termination
Some North Hollywood homes need the vent path corrected, not just cleaned. If a 1940s bungalow has a dryer venting into an unlined chimney flue with no dedicated exterior termination, cleaning alone won’t fix the underlying problem. We can reroute the vent to a proper exterior termination and, where needed, install a HeatShield ceramic resurfacing or a DuraFlex liner system so the flue is actually suited to the job. That’s a repair, not an upsell, and we’ll show you exactly why before we do it.
Trusted Brands We Service in North Hollywood
We don’t stock hardware-store parts. For chimney and venting work in North Hollywood, we work with materials certified chimney professionals actually specify: DuraFlex stainless steel liners for relining offset flues, HeatShield ceramic resurfacing for flue restoration, and components from Famco and Copperfield for caps and dampers. We also handle Gelco repair in North Hollywood when those systems need service. These are the brands our own techs would put in their own homes. When a North Hollywood customer needs a liner or a new termination cap, we’re not waiting on a big-box order to arrive. We carry what we need, which means faster turnaround and no compromise on material quality.
Common Dryer Vent Cleaning Problems We See in North Hollywood Homes
- Dryer vents terminating inside original clay flue tile chimneys. Many 91601 and 91602 bungalows route the dryer exhaust into a chimney flue with no dedicated exterior vent. The lint builds up inside the chimney instead of being removed, and a standard dryer duct brush never touches it.
- Seismic-related flue tile cracks letting lint into wall cavities. After the 1994 Northridge quake, thousands of Valley chimneys had hairline cracks at the roofline and separated flue tiles. We routinely find lint that has escaped through those gaps, and only a camera inspection reveals it.
- Santa Ana wind events pushing debris and lint back down the flue. The dry, wind-driven Valley season sends dust, leaves, and soot back down exterior chimneys. Combined with lint accumulation, it creates blockages that reduce dryer efficiency and raise fire risk.
- Long idle periods letting pest nests form. Mild winters mean fireplaces and connected vents sit unused for months at a time. Birds and rodents build nests in flues during those idle stretches, and when the dryer kicks back on, the restriction gets worse fast.

FAQs – Dryer Vent Cleaning in North Hollywood
Very likely yes, especially in 91601 and 91602 bungalows. In North Hollywood’s 1920s to 1950s Spanish Colonial and bungalow housing stock, dryer vents were often routed into or alongside original clay flue tile chimneys that were never designed for forced-air appliance exhaust. That means lint accumulates inside the chimney flue, not in a dedicated duct. We can confirm this with a camera inspection and clean the full run accordingly. Call (833) 467-7685 to schedule a look.
If your North Hollywood home was built before 1960, has a chimney, and the dryer is located in an interior room or near the fireplace, a Level 2 inspection is usually warranted. Post-1994 Northridge seismic damage is common in Valley chimneys, and hairline cracks at the roofline or separated flue tiles can let lint escape into wall cavities. A standard brush never reveals that. Our camera inspection shows you exactly what’s happening, and we only recommend a Level 2 when the evidence supports it.
Because the vent path itself is likely the problem. In many North Hollywood homes, the dryer vents into an unlined or clay-tile chimney flue with no dedicated exterior termination. Lint builds up inside the chimney, not just in the duct, so a quick duct cleaning only removes a fraction of the accumulation. Santa Ana wind events also push debris back down the flue. Until the termination is corrected, the clog will return. We can show you the obstruction on camera and explain the fix.
Yes, and in North Hollywood this comes up more often than you’d think. When a dryer vent shares a flue with a fireplace that’s also been in use, creosote and lint mix into a dense, flammable accumulation. We clean the entire flue run, not just the dryer duct, and we’ll tell you if the creosote level requires a different approach. We never ignore a safety issue, but we also never recommend a reline without showing you the camera evidence first. Call (833) 467-7685 to discuss your setup.
We install and service DuraFlex stainless steel liner systems, which is the preferred choice for the offset flues common in older North Hollywood chimneys. We’re also certified applicator-level familiar with HeatShield ceramic resurfacing, which can restore a damaged flue without a full tear-out. For caps and dampers, we use Famco and Copperfield components. These are the same materials certified chimney professionals specify, not bargain-bin substitutes.
